Altcoin

The word “altcoin” is a combination of the words “Alternative” and “Coin”, which generally translates to “alternative currency”. Therefore, altcoin will be the general name for all digital currencies created after Bitcoin’s official launch in 2009.

The concept of altcoin emerged when developers and investors began to explore and develop new “potential” cryptocurrencies that could solve the limitations of Bitcoin or offer new improvements and features. Some altcoins use their own blockchain, while others are built on existing blockchain platforms on the market.

In general, coins that are not Bitcoin are collectively called “altcoins”. Since Bitcoin was officially introduced, you will see a lot of altcoins appearing on the market. Up to this point, the number of altcoins created has exceeded 5,000 and there is no sign of stopping. Each alternative cryptocurrency offers a different value and potential.

Some altcoins have quickly gained popularity and widespread adoption, while others have faded into obscurity. Therefore, you should be aware that not all altcoins have value or potential. Before making any investment decisions, remember to thoroughly research and educate yourself about each altcoin.
